CLIENTS
If your museum has faced or anticipates the departure of its director and you want to entrust the interim leadership to an impartial, decisive, and experienced former executive director, in order to advance your institution and undertake the search for a permanent director, you are a typical client of Interim Museum Services.
IMS recruits, places, and supervises interim directors for museums in need of skilled, temporary leadership. We also provide, as an alternative, transition consulting services, which lead your institution from the loss of a director to the selection of a new leader. We do not do searches for permanent staff, but are happy to work with your search firm at your direction.
Upon receiving your call, we will immediately assign one of our four principals to interview members of the museum board and senior staff to gain an understanding of the institution and its organizational needs.
Based on that knowledge we will review our roster of pre-qualified and trained interim directors to select those most appropriate for the specific museum's needs and send a minimum of two candidates' resumes for your consideration.
IMS will next organize interviews between your museum and our candidates to help you assure a good fit and to reach an agreement on salary, start date, duration and other details of employment. If no agreement is reached, IMS will provide a second set of candidates at no further cost to the client. When agreement is reached, the principal will remain as liaison with the museum during the interim's term of service, mentoring the selected director and staying in contact with appropriate board members.
If you would like Interim Museum Services to discuss your situation with you, please provide the following information or telephone us at 415-359-9558 and we will be in contact with you directly.
We will act quickly, understanding that you are eager to reach a rapid resolution of your stressful situation.
